Why this experience

You don't have to wait until something is wrong to invest in your relationship.

Your relationship is built in ordinary moments—the conversations in the kitchen, the way you reconnect after a long day, the conflicts you keep having, the inside jokes, the dreams you haven't talked about in a while, and the small ways you choose one another again and again.

THIS IS US creates intentional space to pay attention to the relationship you're already building.

How it works

Gather. Learn. Go on the date.

Every other week, a small group of couples will gather somewhere in Oklahoma City for a research-based relationship workshop. Then you'll head out together for a thoughtfully curated date where the evening's ideas become real conversation, connection, and experience.

1

Gather

Arrive together for a warm, engaging therapist-led evening focused on one part of a strong, connected relationship.

2

Learn

Explore research-based relationship ideas and practical tools you can carry directly into your conversation that night.

3

Date

Open your THIS IS US date guide and head out together. The date is where you talk, try the tools, have fun, and make the idea your own.

The eight dates

Eight conversations about the life you're creating together.

Date One

Our Story

Becoming curious about who your partner was, who they are now, and who they are becoming.

Date Two

What I Love About You

Strengthening fondness, admiration, and the ability to notice what is still good between you.

Date Three

The Little Things

Recognizing the small everyday invitations for connection that quietly shape a relationship.

Date Four

Same Team

Making room for each other's perspectives and approaching life as partners rather than opponents.

Date Five

When We Disagree

Learning ways to navigate ordinary conflict without losing sight of the person on the other side.

Date Six

What's Underneath

Looking beneath recurring disagreements to understand the values, longings, and dreams that make them matter.

Date Seven

The Life We're Building

Talking intentionally about values, traditions, priorities, meaning, and the culture you're creating together.

Date Eight

This Is Us

Looking back, looking forward, and deciding what you want to keep choosing in the years ahead.

Is this for us?

For couples who want to be intentional about their relationship.

THIS IS US is designed for committed couples who want more connection, stronger friendship, better communication, healthier ways of navigating differences, or simply dedicated time to invest in one another. You don't need to be in crisis—and you don't need to have a perfect relationship.

Because this is a relationship-education experience rather than couples psychotherapy, couples experiencing significant safety concerns or an acute relationship crisis may be better supported by more individualized care. A brief fit process is part of enrollment.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and founder of Humanity: Therapy + Wellness in Oklahoma City. For the past ten years, I’ve worked in the mental health field helping people better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape how they connect with the people they love.

I especially love working with couples in the early years of building a life together. I believe a strong foundation can shape a lifelong partnership—not because healthy couples never struggle, but because they learn how to stay curious about one another, repair when things get hard, and keep choosing the relationship they want to build.

That belief is personal for me, too. The early years of my own marriage were much harder than I expected. My husband and I had to work intentionally at understanding one another, communicating differently, and creating the kind of partnership we wanted. Gottman principles became some of the tools we used along the way. Today, he is genuinely my best friend, and I can’t imagine building this life with anyone else.

THIS IS US grew out of my belief that couples shouldn’t have to wait until their relationship is falling apart to give it their attention. I wanted to create something that offers research-based tools and then gives couples the space to actually use them—to step away from everyday life, go on the date, have the conversation, laugh together, learn something new about each other, and keep building their own version of us.

I can’t wait to spend these eight dates with you.

Frequently asked questions

A few things you may be wondering.

Is THIS IS US couples therapy?
No. THIS IS US is a therapist-led relationship education experience. You will learn and practice relationship tools, but the program is not a substitute for individualized couples psychotherapy when therapy is needed.
Will we have to talk about our relationship in front of everyone?
No. The group learns together, while the meaningful relationship conversations happen between you and your partner during your date. You will not be expected to disclose intimate details about your relationship to the group.
Do we need to be married?
No. The experience is intended for committed couples who are mutually choosing to participate and want to invest intentionally in their relationship.
What if our relationship has some conflict?
That's okay. This isn't a program for couples who never struggle. The goal is to help couples understand one another and develop healthier ways of connecting and navigating ordinary differences. If you're currently experiencing a major relationship crisis or safety concern, we'll help determine whether this is the right level of support before enrollment.
Are our date-night expenses included?
Registration includes the eight workshops, participant materials, Date Passport, and curated date guides. Each couple chooses and purchases their own food, beverages, activities, childcare, and other private date-night expenses.
What if we can't attend every date?
Because the eight dates build on one another, couples should plan to attend as consistently as possible. Final attendance expectations and the complete calendar will be provided before registration.
How does the waitlist work?
Complete the short waitlist and couple-fit form. When enrollment begins, selected couples will receive next steps, including a brief confidential individual check-in for each partner before final registration.
